About Me
Belita William is an internationally known artist and competition winner. Currently living in New Mexico, she is a Portrait Artist who also does commissioned Religious (Catholic) art for churches and, in particular, the Carmelite order of their historical events and Saints. A child prodigy, she was under the mentorship of Moe Howard of The Three Stooges, after wining as a 10 year old a draw The Three Stooges competition that was an all age group. She beat out adult artwork winning 1st place and one of the prizes was meeting the 3 Stooges in Person, where she and Moe became friends and he became her mentor.
While in High School, she won a scholarship to the Art Center College of Design of Los Angeles for teen artists, later attending the Art Center for 2 years. While living in Saudi Arabia in the 70's for 6 years with her Husband and young children, at age 22, she was commissioned to paint the King of Saudi Arabia for the Royal Commission and was invited to both meet the King and present him with the portrait in person. The king was so pleased, he sent the Oil Minister Hasim Nazzar to her camp to give her a banquet in her honor. This was a rare honor as she was an expat and a woman. Returning to the States, she has had a life long career as a portrait artist and religious artist. Her work is traditional and combines high technical skill with beauty and her portraits are narrative and detailed, often telling a story of the subject. Currently, she is represented by The Sacred Gallery in Mesa Arizona, and LIC Gallery Seattle Washington.
